Fellowship Leadership Opportunities

Screening Committee

Screening Committee members have the privilege of identifying exceptional candidates for our Fellowship program. Working with applications from three prestigious law schools, you’ll:

  • Review and evaluate: Read complete Fellowship applications and assess candidates based on established guidelines created by Fellowship Founder Francesca Turner
  • Collaborate on decisions: Participate in committee discussions to determine Finalists for Fellowship awards, sharing insights and ratings with fellow committee members
  • Conduct due diligence: Assist with reference checks on proposed Finalists to ensure thorough vetting of candidates

Time Commitment: Application review period (annual), committee meetings during selection process, and reference check participation. Ideal for professionals who want to identify and support emerging talent in public service.

Engagement Committee

The Fellowship Engagement Committee creates the experiences that bring our community together and support Fellows throughout their careers. As a committee representing all three law schools, you’ll help shape how we connect, communicate, and celebrate our shared mission. Committee members will:

  • Drive communications strategy: Oversee our website, newsletters, social media, and digital presence to keep our community informed and engaged
  • Plan milestone celebrations: Lead the exciting planning for our 50th Anniversary celebration and preserve our Fellowship’s rich history for future generations
  • Foster meaningful connections: Create innovative programming and events that bring Fellows together across practice areas, interests, and geographic regions
  • Support professional growth: Collaborate on mentorship programs, career transition support, and networking opportunities that advance Fellows’ public service careers
  • Measure our impact: Develop metrics and gather Fellow feedback to continuously improve our community engagement efforts

Time Commitment: Quarterly committee meetings plus project work.

Board of Directors

Fellowship Board Members play a vital role in advancing Francesca Turner’s vision of supporting the next generation of leaders of character who understand the importance of public service. As a volunteer Board Member, you’ll:

  • Guide our mission: Serve as an advocate and ambassador for the Fellowship, helping to set strategic direction and ensure we stay true to our founding principles
  • Provide oversight: Monitor Fellowship operations, participate in governance decisions, and ensure financial stewardship of our resources
  • Support our Fellows: Engage directly with current Fellows and Fellows-Elect through mentorship, networking, career counseling, and Fellowship events
  • Contribute your expertise: Leverage your professional skills and networks to advance Fellowship goals through Board-directed projects and initiatives

Time Commitment: Board meetings, at least one annual Selection Day program, and ongoing project participation. This is a hands-on volunteer role for those who want to make a meaningful impact on emerging public service leaders.
