Fellows-Elect: Where Are They Headed for Summer 2026?

From top-tier law firms and political campaigns to government offices and international tribunals, here is a look at what our Fellows-Elect will be up to over the break:

UC Law SF
  • Lila Puziss (rising 2L): Lila will work in the Affirmative Litigation Department at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office, where she expects to focus on consumer protection or federal litigation.
  • Kat Lane (rising 2L): Kat will intern with the California Coastal Commission this summer. She is passionate about environmental statutory law. She is a 1L rep for the Environmental Law Society and plans to seek an executive board role.
  • Nilab Nawabi (rising 3L): Nilab will work at the San Francisco office of the firm Ogletree Deakins as a summer associate.
  • Kavita Rai (rising 3L): Kavita will work as an intern at Gilead and looks forward to further exploring her interest in health law.
Columbia
  • Reem Ali (rising 2L): Reem will work at The Door’s Legal Services Center in New York City. She will be part of the removal defense team, providing immigration and family law services for youth, including asylum and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status applications.
  • Daniel Gessen (rising 2L): Daniel will pursue his ongoing political career this summer actively campaigning for the position of Barnstable County Commissioner in Massachusetts, the area commonly known as Cape Cod.
  • Wassa Bagayoko (rising 3L): Wassa will be working at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett in New York City, where she hopes to focus on litigation.
  • Ria Kanani (rising 3L): Ria will work part of the summer at Sullivan & Cromwell in Palo Alto. Then she will return to New York to work on plaintiff-side sexual abuse cases, specifically cases arising from the Epstein files, at Mershon Law.
Chicago
  • Alexis Fintland (rising 2L): Alexis will spend the summer in Washington, D.C. working on the Senate Judiciary Committee for Senator Adam Schiff.
  • Nima Majidi (rising 2L): Nima will work with the Electoral Tribunal of Panama, the body responsible for safeguarding free and fair elections. He hopes this experience will deepen his understanding of democratic governance and inform his long-term goal of supporting similar reforms in his country of origin, Iran.
  • Vadim Trubetskoy (rising 3L): Vadim starts his packed summer with 10 weeks at Cravath in New York, followed by service at the Pentagon on the Joint Intelligence and Operations Watch Floor, and then a month with the House Oversight Committee.
  • Jonathan Kamanta (rising 3L): Jonathan will work at Sullivan & Cromwell in New York and also take some time to travel in Europe.
