Shana Chung
Shana Chung is the Senior Associate Professor and Program Chair of the Healthcare Management & Leadership program at Bellevue College, in Washington state. She also serves as the Assistant Dean of Bellevue College’s Health Sciences, Education & Wellness Division. Prior to joining Bellevue College, she held appointments at the University of Washington as a research interviewer, project manager, and research coordinator for various health and social welfare studies, including studies funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the American Cancer Society. She is the co-author of two peer-reviewed publications on concussion in high school athletes. Shana is licensed to practice law in Washington state and Hawaii.
Shana received her bachelor’s degree with honors from Harvard University, her master’s in public health (M.P.H.) from the University of California, Berkeley, and her Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco, where she served as Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Constitutional Law Quarterly. She is the recipient of Harvard’s National Scholarship, the University of California Regents Fellowship, and the Tony Patino Fellowship.
Her educational and professional experience has focused primarily on healthcare law and management as well as health-related academic research. She began her career as a consultant to the US Environmental Protection Agency’s San Francisco office. Later, she practiced law for 10+ years, first as a member of the corporate and litigation departments of a major law firm and then as corporate counsel to a large hospital system. She also has extensive regulatory and project management experience, including serving on the leadership team of a multi-million dollar HIPAA implementation project.
