Sam Ruby
A career Coast Guard officer, Sam Ruby is excited to be starting his legal career at the Coast Guard Office of the Chief Prosecutor. A proud 2024 graduate of the University of California College of the Law – San Francisco , Sam served as an intern with Coast Guard District 11 and the Command Services Division of the Legal Service Command. During law school, he competed on the trial team, conducted academic support for 1L students, and participated in student government.
Prior to attending law school, he served as the Aide de Camp to the Eleventh Coast Guard District Commander from July 2019 to July 2021. He served as the Commanding Officer of the cutter WAHOO in Port Angeles, WA from 2017 to 2019. He also served as the Executive Officer of cutter ADAK, Patrol Forces Southwest Asia from 2016 to 2017. After graduation from the Coast Guard Academy with a B.S. in Government in 2014, he was assigned to the cutter SPENCER as a Deck Watch Officer in Boston, MA.
Sam is a native of Northfield, Minnesota. His hobbies include cooking, ice hockey, and being awful at golf.
