Julie Mendoza

Julie Mendoza is a Bay Area native and 2L at UC Law SF (formerly UC Hastings). Prior to law school Julie graduated from UC Berkeley, as a first generation college graduate, where she studied Psychology and Legal Studies. As an undergraduate, she founded the Happy Period Berkeley Initiative to provide basic hygiene products for those who would otherwise go without. 

After graduating with High Distinction, Julie became a 7th grade humanities teacher in East Oakland’s District 2, while earning a Masters in Education Policy and Administration from Loyola Marymount University. As an educator she served as the faculty advisor to multiple student organizations, and was appointed as Humanities Department Chair and lead organizer for the Oakland Education Association. 

As a 1L at UC Law SF, Julie achieved the highest GPA in the Moscone Inn, earning the Milton D. Green Top Ten Citation and admission into the UC Law SF Honor Society. During her 1L summer she worked as a legal intern with the Equal Justice Society where she researched potential California constitutional claims and participated in settlement discussions to address discriminatory disciplinary practices in California school districts.
