Jeremy Feigelson
Jeremy Feigelson is a Patiño Fellow from the University of Chicago’s Class of 1991.
Mr. Feigelson is Senior Advisor to the Chair/CEO at New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority. At the MTA he focuses on the social challenges affecting the transit system, with particular attention to homelessness and mental illness. The Subway Co-Response Outreach Teams (SCOUT), an initiative he helped create, combine clinicians and police officers to assist the most troubled individuals taking shelter in the system. He also co-chairs the MTA’s AI leadership group; supports the Authority’s efforts on advertising, the First Amendment and social media; and works on governance initiatives. He acted as staff co-director for the MTA’s blue-ribbon panel on fare and toll evasion.
He joined the MTA in 2022 from Debevoise & Plimpton LLP, where he was a litigation partner focused on intellectual property and media law and served as Co-Chair of the firm’s Data Strategy & Security practice. Mr. Feigelson received his A.B. magna cum laude from Princeton University’s School of Public and International Affairs. He received his J.D. cum laude from the University of Chicago Law School, where he was admitted to the Order of the Coif and served as Articles Editor of the Law Review. He served as law clerk to the Hon. Milton I. Shadur, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Prior to law school, Mr. Feigelson served in the administration of Mayor Edward I. Koch of New York City.
Mr. Feigelson serves on the board of the New York City Bar Association. He previously chaired the Association’s Committee on New York City Affairs and its Committee on Government Ethics. He is past board chair of the Partnership to End Homelessness; a past trustee of the Citizens Budget Commission; and a Life Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. In private practice he was for many years the principal outside counsel, pro bono, to the Committee to Protect Journalists.
